I was born and raised in Budapest in a family of artists. I lived in Zürich, Budapest and for the last 11 years Vienna.
I make time to travel near and far, drawing inspiration from my encounters. I always wanted to paint and make art but life had other plans.
Finally I HAD TO PAINT. There was no other option. Painting is therapeutic. It is a form of expression, an externalization of the interior experience and my take on the world, what I see and feel. It also has helped me cope with hard times: friends passing, illnesses, you know, life.
To concentrate on the colors and the forms helps me process.
My mother, Rozalia Litkey, was very talented. She drew and painted beautifully. She didn't have the chance to become an artist or to study art like she would have wanted. It was a different time and as the eldest daughter she had to stay at home. But she always kept drawing cards for Christmas or Easter for the whole family, and made with me and my sister the decoration every year for the classroom in school. She also created stuffed animals and puppets with endearing characters. ~ That's why my artist name is “Rosalisadottir. The daughter of Rosalia”. It is my way to tell the world that I would not who I am without her. I HAVE to PAINT and make ART. I do it for myself and honor her because she could not pursue her dream. She gave me love, freedom, curiosity, and creativity. I am a new generation and thanks to the freedom she gave me I learned to be free.
My paintings are sometimes complicated, many times motivated by music. Please take your time and watch and see what you see and what you feel. And if you feel like sharing it with me in a comment section, please do.
I gave titles for the paintings but that's only one way to look at them. I would be very interested in your interpretation. Drop me a line. Keep in touch.
Finally, here is a link to a piece of writing that my dear friend Mary Murphy wrote in her blog about me. I could never write like this about myself and I was deeply touched by her words:
